For most webshops, Christmas is the longest and most valuable stretch of the year. Dansk Erhverv forecast record Danish retail revenue of 97 billion kroner for November and December 2025, and in the US Adobe recorded 257.8 billion dollars in online spending between 1 November and 31 December 2025.
Affiliates play a big part in how shoppers find gifts, from editorial gift guides to voucher sites and comparison engines. But Christmas affiliate success is mostly decided before December. This guide covers the three things that matter most: getting into gift guides early, communicating delivery cut-offs and keeping your product feed accurate.
Get into gift guides early
Gift guides are among the most valuable placements a content partner can give you. They rank in search, get shared on social media and stay live for weeks. But publishers build them well ahead of the season, and the slots fill up long before December.
- Contact your top content partners in October with a short gift list: 6–12 products, prices, images and a one-line reason why each makes a good gift.
- Group products by recipient or budget, such as gifts for him, gifts under 200 kroner or gifts for the home. That matches how guides are written.
- Make sure the featured products have enough stock to last until your last delivery date. A sold-out product in a guide wastes the placement.
- Offer a fixed fee or a commission bonus for guaranteed inclusion with your strongest partners, if your margin allows it.
- Send image rights and approved product texts up front, so partners do not have to wait for you.
Make delivery cut-offs impossible to miss
In December, delivery time becomes as important as price. Shoppers want to know whether a gift will arrive before Christmas Eve, and partners need that information to keep promoting you.
Carrier cut-offs for 2026 are usually published in November, but last year’s dates give a useful guide. In 2025, PostNord’s recommended drop-off for Danish parcels was 19 December, and GLS and Bring also used 19 December for domestic delivery in Denmark. In the UK, Royal Mail recommended posting by 19 December for Tracked 48 and by 21 December for Tracked 24 and first class. Cross-border deliveries had earlier dates, in some cases 12 December.
- Set your own last order date one or two days before the carrier cut-off, to allow for packing.
- Set separate dates for each country you ship to, and tell partners in each market which date applies to them.
- Send partners a short delivery message they can copy, such as order by 18 December for delivery before Christmas.
- Show the cut-off on your landing pages, so traffic from partners sees the same promise.
- After the cut-off, switch the message to click and collect, express delivery or gift cards instead of going quiet.
Keep your Q4 product feed accurate
Comparison sites, shopping partners and many content tools pull prices and stock from your product feed. In Q4, prices change often and stock runs out fast, so an outdated feed means wrong prices on partner sites and wasted clicks.
Many networks and partners use the same attribute names as Google Merchant Center, so it is a good standard to follow:
- price and sale_price: keep the normal price and the campaign price in separate fields.
- sale_price_effective_date: add start and end dates so the sale price appears and disappears at the right time.
- availability: update stock status at least daily, and more often for your bestsellers.
- min_handling_time and max_handling_time: tell partners how many business days you need before an order ships.
- shipping_label: group products with different delivery times, such as bulky items or items shipped from a supplier.
- custom_label fields: tag gift-friendly products, price bands or campaign products so partners can build Christmas selections.
Google calculates its arrives-by estimate from your order cut-off time, maximum handling time and maximum transit time, and it adds an extra day when that period overlaps a public holiday. Customers see the upper end of the range, so be realistic rather than optimistic.
Keep partners informed through the season
Partners cannot promote what they do not know about. A short weekly update in December is often worth more than a long brief in October, because prices, stock and delivery promises change quickly.
- Tell partners when a featured product sells out and suggest a replacement with a working link.
- Share which products are converting best, so content and voucher partners can move them higher up.
- Confirm any change to codes or commission rates in writing, with start and end times.
Your December timing plan
- Late November: confirm last order dates per country and send them to all partners along with your Christmas creative.
- Early December: check that gift guides are live, the links work and the featured products are in stock.
- Mid-December: push last-chance delivery messages through voucher, newsletter and social partners.
- Around the cut-off: switch partners to gift cards, express delivery or click and collect.
- After Christmas: brief partners on your January sale and returns policy before 26 December.
Christmas checklist
- Gift lists sent to content partners in October.
- Last order dates set per country and shared with partners.
- Feed updated with sale prices, campaign dates and daily stock.
- A plan for the days after the cut-off.
Christmas rewards the shops that are easy for partners to work with: clear dates, accurate feeds and products that are actually in stock. Want a second opinion before peak season? Start with a free audit of your affiliate programme.
