Black Friday 2026: the affiliate checklist for advertisers

Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November 2026, with Cyber Monday following on 30 November and Singles’ Day already on Wednesday 11 November. For most advertisers that means the affiliate work that decides peak-season results has to be finished in October and early November, not in the final week.

Partners plan their content, newsletters and homepage slots weeks ahead, and they prioritise the programmes that make it easy for them. This checklist covers what to have ready four to six weeks before Black Friday, so your programme is live, tracked and briefed before the traffic arrives.

Why the preparation window matters

Affiliate is no longer a side channel at peak. Adobe reported that affiliates and partners, including social media influencers, accounted for 21.8% of US online revenue on Cyber Monday 2025. In Denmark, Dansk Erhverv notes that searches for Black Friday start in early October and peak on the Friday before the big day. If your offers, links and codes are not with partners by then, you miss the planning phase entirely.

Product feeds and landing pages

Comparison sites, deal sites and content partners all depend on accurate product data. A feed that shows the wrong price or an out-of-stock product during Black Week costs you clicks and trust.

  • Check that your feed updates at least daily, and more often during campaign days if your platform allows it.
  • Include sale price, original price, stock status and campaign labels as separate fields.
  • Prepare dedicated landing pages for Black Week and key categories, and share the final URLs with partners early.
  • Make sure your before-prices follow the EU rule: a price reduction must be shown against the lowest price you applied in at least the previous 30 days.

The 30-day rule comes from Article 6a of the EU Price Indication Directive, and the Court of Justice of the EU confirmed in the Aldi Süd case (C-330/23) in 2024 that the advertised reduction must be calculated from that lowest prior price. Partners copy your claims, so getting this right protects them as well as you.

Tracking and attribution

Peak traffic exposes every tracking gap. Test now, while there is still time to fix problems with your developer or network.

  • Place test orders through each network you use, on desktop and mobile, and confirm that they appear with the right order value.
  • Check that your consent banner does not block affiliate tracking for users who accept, and that server-side or first-party tracking is working where available.
  • Pass voucher codes in the tracking parameter so that code-based attribution works.
  • Freeze major website or checkout changes from early November until after Cyber Monday.

Also agree who monitors tracking during Black Week itself. If sales from a large partner suddenly drop to zero, someone should be able to check the tag, contact the network and tell the partner within hours, not after the weekend. A short internal rota with names and response times is usually enough.

Creatives, codes and offers

Partners need finished material, not promises. Upload banners in the standard sizes your networks support, with versions for teaser, live campaign and last chance. Add short offer texts that partners can paste straight into newsletters and articles.

  • Decide which offers are public and which are exclusive to specific partners.
  • Create exclusive codes per partner, ideally with a unique prefix, so you can see who drives what.
  • Set clear start and end times, minimum order values and exclusions in writing.
  • Use code attribution where your network offers it. On Awin, for example, a sale made with an exclusive code is credited to the partner who owns that code, even if another site leaked it.

Partner communication and approvals

Send one clear Black Friday brief in October and follow up with short reminders. It should state the campaign dates, the offers, any commission changes, the creatives and who to contact during the week. Then deal with the practical points that slow programmes down at peak.

  • Clear the backlog of pending partner applications so new partners can go live in time.
  • Validate outstanding transactions, so partners trust your programme before they promote it.
  • Agree paid placements, newsletter slots and homepage features in writing, with dates and prices.
  • Confirm internal sign-off on discounts, budget and legal texts before the brief goes out.

Budget and timing

Set a total affiliate budget for November that covers commission, any temporary boosts and paid placements, and decide in advance where the limits are. Then plan around how people actually buy. Awin’s 2025 Cyber Weekend data showed Black Friday purchases surging between 5pm and 9pm, so schedule updates and code launches before the evening peak, not during it.

Local factors matter too. In Denmark many people are paid on Monday 30 November 2026, the same day as Cyber Monday, according to Dansk Erhverv. That makes it worth keeping budget and offers available beyond Friday rather than spending everything on one day.

Vigtigste pointer

  • Have feeds, landing pages and correct before-prices ready by early November.
  • Test tracking on every network and freeze site changes during peak.
  • Deliver creatives, offer texts and partner-specific codes in one clear brief in October.
  • Approve partners and transactions now, and agree placements in writing.
  • Plan budget for the whole period up to and including Cyber Monday.

Black Friday rewards the advertisers who are easiest to promote. If your partners have accurate data, working tracking and a clear brief before November, they can spend the busiest weeks selling for you instead of chasing answers.
